I'm Sara.
I'm a product designer, UX researcher, and UX writer based in Ottawa, ON. I'm passionate about designing accessible and enjoyable experiences for everyday people. I have 7+ years of industry experience, the majority in the medical product field, and recently completed my MDes at Carleton University, along with a G.Dip in Health: Science, Technology, and Policy.
I'm interested in bringing my knowledge and skills in design, research, and writing together into one role.
My masters thesis
In 2021, I decided to take a break from industry and complete my MDes at Carleton University. This experience challenged me in a new way, further honing my research, analysis, writing, communication, presentation, and organization skills. I learned to look at information and data from a new lens, and to work with a different kind of design and research constraint from those present in industry.
My thesis, "Preparing Designers to Tackle Wicked Problems: The Role of Research-Based Master Education in Design", passed with no revisions and was nominated for a university medal.

Some things I've been doing for fun
When I'm not making things on the computer, I really enjoy making things with my hands. I reguarly take woodworking classes at the Ottawa City Woodshop and also enjoy knitting and sewing. I always have a book on the go, most often fiction, and usually have a furry sidekick somewhere close by.
